The museum is named “Seklyčia” – a word once used to describe a cozy room meant for community gatherings and various events.
The moment you step inside, you are carried a century back in time – into a space filled with stories and memories of lives long past. The exhibition showcases ethnographic relics of the region – household utensils, dishes, handicrafts, everyday items, hope chests – as well as information stands presenting the history, legends, and stories of the Pavermenys area.
The museum also preserves the works of local ethnographers Pranas Miknevičius, Ignas Kinderis, and Cicilija Meškienė, along with a truly exceptional exhibit – the handwritten book “Truskava” by priest Stanislovas Krištanaitis. In its pages, he describes the old Truskava church (destroyed during World War II), the town itself, its people, and surrounding landscape. This manuscript is of interest not only to local residents but also to professional historians and cultural researchers.
Outside the museum stands a wooden monument bearing the names of villages that have disappeared from the map.
“Seklyčia” invites visitors not only to explore its exhibits but also to contribute to the expansion of the collection – helping to gather, preserve, and share the ethnographic and historical heritage of the Truskava region. Today, “Seklyčia” may be just a small museum – but with your support, it can grow into something much greater!
