The orthodox parish was established in Kėdainiai in 1645, when Jonušas Radvila married his second wife Maria Lupu. In 1854, the owner of Kėdainiai Count Marijonas Čapskis gifted a brick building to the Orthodox, which was rebuilt into an Orthodox Church according to the project of architect S. Ikonikovas. After the church fire in 1893, Piotr Stolypin helped raise funds to repair the church. In the beginning of the 20th century, a master from St. Petersburg was summoned, who painted the Orthodox Church ceiling and walls. The Orthodox Church is still used to this day, and preserved its 20th century paintings as well as several valuable icons. There is a memorial plaque for Piotr Stotypin, the most famous member of the Orthodox community in Kėdainiai. The plaque was uncovered on 21 September 2012. The bas-relief was created by the sculptor Romas Vilčiauskas, and the designer of the composition was Arvydas Urbelis. The Orthodox Church is open during services.
