This is the oldest oak in Kėdainiai (size – 5.4 m, diameter – 1.70 m. height – 23 m.). The story is that it was planted by Mikalojus Daukša, the originator of Lithuanian writing, who was born in Babėnai, near Kėdainiai. M. Daukša is a prominent figure of the development of Lithuanian writing. He was an educator, propagator of humanistic ideas, and defender of the native language in the 16th century, as well as one of the first creators of Lithuanian literary language, who established the basis for writing in the Great Duchy of Lithuania.
